Dark Fantasy · Short Fiction · The Marchlands
I spent over fifty years writing fantasy, dark fiction and strange tales for myself, for my children, and primarily for my own pleasure. I am now publishing.
Two bodies of work live here. The first is The Woldwood. A dark fantasy world of ancient magic and forgotten histories, currently releasing as forty tales and a first novel. The second is Edvane Stories. Short fiction, ghost stories, folklore and historical shadows, published every Saturday.
The Durn Yew · Tales from the Woldwood · The Shivering Vale
In the Marchlands, there is a tree. The Durn Yew moves through the Woldwood, disappearing and reappearing, never in the same place twice. Beneath its roots live the denizens of the Yewdeep. Beyond the Groaning Gate lie tethered realms, some persisting, many collapsing. Forty tales record the people and events of this world. Thirty-nine are in the archive. The first novel arrives soon.
Tales from the Woldwood is a free 40-story descent into the Marchlands. The forests, ruins, people, monsters, bargains, and histories that shape the world before the first novel arrives.
